OpusCMS is an open source system that uses PHP for backend scripting and MySQL or PostgreSQL for storing content data. It was originally designed to serve the fragile needs of developing countries, but it is now widely used in all parts of the world, with translations available in more than 30 languages. OpusCMS is an open-source software under GNU GPL. It provides a complete CMS, CMSPro, security modules and supports the following file formats: PDF, XML, XHTML. OpusCMS is not designed to be installed in production sites.Software created by OpusCMS are widely used in the public sector in many countries around the world for information management systems, including Colombia (Medicinaelect), Mozambique (HISMA Information Systems), Peru (Asuntos del Pueblo), Venezuela (Oficina Nacional de Investigaciones Cientificas) and Zambia's intelligence agency. The importance of Open Source can be observed in the world of IT; Open Source Software (OSS) is an approach to the creation of software, which provides users with open access to the source code. Its process encourages participation by end users who can improve the software and make it better suited for their needs. It also contributes to more efficient development processes and requires less time and fewer resources to accomplish specific development objectives. OSS projects are generally developed in a collaborative manner, which means that they tend to be more robust than proprietary software. Source: http://www.epbfi.org/documentos/open-source-software.pdf Today, OSS is emerging as one of the main alternatives to proprietary and traditional software and is rapidly becoming a preferred option in many countries for the development of e-Government applications, where there is a need for transparency and participation of citizens and local institutions in their design and construction. Open Source approaches have been applied successfully in software projects used by both small and large organizations such as military organizations, banks, telecommunications companies, energy providers, media groups ... OpusCMS makes use of Model-View-Controller architecture, MVC is an approach to application design in which the data and behavior of a software application is divided into three interconnected parts: Models, Views and Controllers. It is called View because the user interacts with it and gives it the information which will be processed by the controller and sent to the model for processing and storage. Controller performs all operations related to saving data in the database, updating information or redirecting to another screen. cfa1e77820
